The Catwalk Shop....

This weekend Oli took me to what he calls the catwalk shop. When i asked him why he calls it that he explained that there was a long runway type space when you walk into the shop so you can catwalk down it!!! He's French what can i say?!?

So the catwalk shop is called Ekseption and is an international boutique on Calle Velazquez. It's a multi-brand store stocking all the big names & must have items for each season. It kind of reminds me of Wade Smith in its heyday (reference for all you Scousers reading this!)

Victoria Beckham personally promoted her dVb jeans collection here in 2008. I guess she was probably a regular at this shop whilst she lived in the city when Becks played at Real Madrid!!

So which items in there do i wish for the most?! Well i am lusting after the beautiful Proenza Schouler PSi medium suede bag and the rocking Chloe Susanna studded boots!!

Studs & satchels have been massive trends recently. However sadly my budget won't stretch to these so i'll be buying into versions from Aldo & Zatchels....

Happy shopping guys xx

Cocktails @ Bar Cock....

I can't help but giggle every time i or someone mentions the name of this bar & when you tell people its in Chueca, the Gay District your imagination goes into overdrive - all pink neon lights & leopard prints!! However this bar has to be the epitome of understated old skool cool!!

Behind a tiny door (that we walked past twice!)on a dark side street hides an Aladins Cave of the cocktail world. With opulent dark wooden panels, massive fire place, vaulted ceilings, leather seats & a prohibition style 1920's bar & mixologists its like stepping back in time into a London aristocrats drawing room.

With a DJ playing classic lounge music its the perfect place to experiment with the menu of classic cocktails.
Dress to impress but in an understated cool laid back way!

I found this gem with my two Manc mates then took my Madrilenian friends who were not aware of this place but were blown away by it!!

Oh by the way the venues name comes from the animal!! Look out for the rooster on the door outside!

Calle Reina 16, Chueca

Annual Fabada

I have been finding a lot of similarities between Scousers & the Spanish, both having a love of family, friends, football and as i discovered this weekend STEW!!!

On a freezing Saturday afternoon in Madrid we took the metro to our friends home to be present at their Annual Fabada where we scoffed the perfect winter dish.

Fabada Asturiana is a traditional Spanish bean stew made with white beans, shoulder of pork, black pudding & chorizo, using a recipe that has been handed down the generations. Served with fresh crusty bread and copious amount of red vino!!
Followed by Gin Tonic & Vodkas.....!!

People watching...

I find the city of Madrid very inspirational, at every corner or everywhere i turn there is something interesting to peruse and it is for this reason i felt the need to start this blog.

My favourite hobby is people watching so if you share this past time with me then Madrid will be a feast to your eyes....
My other favourite city is Paris and in some ways i find Madrid similar, the architecture for example. The difference however is the people & the atmosphere, the people here in Madrid can be achingly cool in a "i don't care kind of way" they are so laid back, and then of course we are in Spain so these guys are ready to party most days!!!

Premier Blog

So here it is my first blog!
The thoughts & opinions raving around in my head finally down in black & white in the Queens English on the world wide web for all you good people to read, and hopefully, well maybe, find interesting, informative or even enlightening!! I can only hope!

The reason for my venture into the world of blogs is to document my move from Liverpool UK to Madrid Spain. This will be my space for me to write about my experiences & adventures and well I figured this would be a great way for my family and friends to keep up with my progress!

So enjoy peeps...!!! x
